Here in Bermuda, we've been fortunate as we've enjoyed some incredible summer weather well into October, but we all know that at some point, our luck will run out. That means that instead of congregating on a sunny patio to enjoy a weekly happy hour, we'll be looking for indoor spots to enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail (and of course a bite to eat) over the course of the cooler months. As it turns out, one of the most eclectic and engaging spaces on Front Street (if not the whole island) is a step ahead of our impending winter "what to do?" dilemma, with a new event to look forward to on a regular basis: Wednesday Wine Tastings at Urban Cottage.

When it comes to sweet treats in the east, only one name comes to mind: Sweet SAAK Bakery. Infamous islandwide for their cinnamon buns, known in various circles for a delightful carrot cake and those in the know will brag about their specialty cakes. On a weekly basis, countless Sweet SAAK devotees look for any excuse to get to St George’s for Cinnamon Bun Wednesdays; they are creating a following for their Friday Pizza Nights, and if you follow them on Instagram (start now), you’ll be aware of their ‘traditional’ Sunday breakfasts that have a growing legion of fans…now including Team #biteofbermuda.
Overcome by the constant stream of images on our phones, we ventured to St George’s on a Sunday morning to experience the Sweet SAAK breakfast for ourselves. If you are a fan of breakfast, it is strongly suggested that you do the same. Lunch is Served!
That’s right! As of September 8th, Marcus' Bermuda at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club is now serving lunch. And to commemorate the occasion, Chef Marcus Samuelsson himself graced Bermuda with his presence and hosted a cooking demonstration in the Princess Victoria Room on Friday afternoon, featuring a couple of the items from the lunch menu. If you think this was an event that we'd possibly have missed...think again. On a recent episode of a Food Network show that focuses on Asian Cuisine (we're fans of food from every region) the host highlighted that Chicken Wings are a favourite finger food around the globe, and every region has their own spin on just how they like them. National Chicken Wing Day...(no seriously...this is really a thing...click here if you don't believe it) is celebrated annually on July 29th so we thought we'd highlight just a few places who to wing-it well, here in Bermuda.
