You know how some days you want to grab a quick bite, but you’re not looking for anything fancy? Just something good, possibly healthy and not at all pretentious. That was pretty much the vibe the other day when one of us popped by a local institution – The Paraquet Restaurant.
“Consistent and reliable, and yet full of surprises” - This conflicting statement is pretty accurate when it comes to the Bermuda restaurant institution The Lobster Pot. During the holidays at what would be our last @biteofbermuda team meal of 2015, we sat down for lunch at The Lobster Pot and quite happily experienced this oxymoron for ourselves.
When it comes to sweet treats in the east, only one name comes to mind: Sweet SAAK Bakery. Infamous islandwide for their cinnamon buns, known in various circles for a delightful carrot cake and those in the know will brag about their specialty cakes. On a weekly basis, countless Sweet SAAK devotees look for any excuse to get to St George’s for Cinnamon Bun Wednesdays; they are creating a following for their Friday Pizza Nights, and if you follow them on Instagram (start now), you’ll be aware of their ‘traditional’ Sunday breakfasts that have a growing legion of fans…now including Team #biteofbermuda.
Overcome by the constant stream of images on our phones, we ventured to St George’s on a Sunday morning to experience the Sweet SAAK breakfast for ourselves. If you are a fan of breakfast, it is strongly suggested that you do the same.
