'Giddy' is a word that could be used, but as we’re adults here, we will say that we are ‘extremely excited’ at the fact that the next 3 weeks marks the 5th year for the Bermuda Restaurant Weeks. Hosted by the Bermuda Tourism Authority, the annual event has steadily gathered momentum over the past 5 years and in 2016 there are more participating restaurants than ever. This fares well for food lovers in Bermuda as the 22 day event provides the opportunity to sample specially prepared, set price, 3 course dinner menus from over 40 of Bermuda’s best restaurants. “Consistent and reliable, and yet full of surprises” - This conflicting statement is pretty accurate when it comes to the Bermuda restaurant institution The Lobster Pot. During the holidays at what would be our last @biteofbermuda team meal of 2015, we sat down for lunch at The Lobster Pot and quite happily experienced this oxymoron for ourselves.
Biteofbermuda.com officially launched in May of 2015, and at that time, one of the restaurants certain to be featured was Wahoo’s Bistro & Patio. This was for a multitude of reasons, the main one being that it can be said without question that this eatery is one of the most consistent in Bermuda when it comes to serving up great food. But despite the fact that we have already proclaimed the restaurant as a favourite, it has taken more than six months before we’ve had the opportunity to highlight Wahoo’s. And after the lunch we thoroughly enjoyed there, we are seriously asking each other, “Why has it taken so long?!”

When the week is rough and the days are long, sometimes it's nice to break up the monotony of those things we call "real jobs" with a real lunch break. You know, the kind where you sit down and order from a menu. Port O Call hasn't been a frequent lunch stop (it's a bit pricier than our typical quick stops, and therefore a bit more of a treat), so we headed in on a recent sunny Friday to see what was on offer for the lunch crowd. As odd as it may seem, when living in Bermuda it can still be pretty easy to get caught up in the daily hustle and bustle of work, home, family and such (you know, 'responsibilities'). Often, you can lose sight of the fact that we call paradise 'home' and that there is much to be enjoyed with such a privilege. So while weekends may be filled with grocery shopping, laundry, or errands around town, it is still important to pause for a few minutes and find that place where you can sit back, inhale that Bermudaful air, take in stunning vistas and (of course) have a great meal. One such place is Marcus’ Bermuda at the Hamilton Princess and Beach Club.
Here in Bermuda, we've been fortunate as we've enjoyed some incredible summer weather well into October, but we all know that at some point, our luck will run out. That means that instead of congregating on a sunny patio to enjoy a weekly happy hour, we'll be looking for indoor spots to enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail (and of course a bite to eat) over the course of the cooler months. As it turns out, one of the most eclectic and engaging spaces on Front Street (if not the whole island) is a step ahead of our impending winter "what to do?" dilemma, with a new event to look forward to on a regular basis: Wednesday Wine Tastings at Urban Cottage.
