Continuing on in our quest for Bermuda's Best Fish Sandwich, the team headed west on Sunday afternoon and found our next contender in the stunning setting at Breezes at Cambridge Beaches. We had been invited by Executive Chef Keith DeShields some time ago, and decided that his entry into the competition was the perfect excuse (not that we really needed one) to sample the fare at what has to be one of Bermuda's most beautiful spots for a meal. The Chef uses fresh local fish (Amber Jack on the day we visited), and from the first bite, we could not get over the delicious herb batter. Crispy but not heavy, and perfectly flavoured, the fish was the shining star of this sandwich...as the fish in a fish sandwich should be. The fish sat on a bed of coleslaw and was topped with red onion sliced razor-thin, tomato and tartar sauce, served on a homemade raisin bun and alongside fries (regular or sweet potato). We absolutely loved it, and that herb-battered fish was the topic of conversation many more times during the course of the afternoon. We sat there enjoying the view and smacking our lips, agreeing that life in a place with a fish sandwich competition is pretty darn good. This contender is well worth the trip! Once this fish sandwich madness is over, we're going to write more about our phenomenal lunch and introduce you to the inspired Chef properly but for now, let's just talk about this sandwich. What a sandwich. More on our experience to come, but in the meantime you have until Friday to make your way to Breezes and sink your teeth into this incredible sandwich. Then be sure to submit your vote on BermudaFoodie.com!
A huge thanks to Chef DeShields and Cambridge Beaches for hosting us on Sunday, and stay tuned for more on our experience. More Bermuda's Best Fish Sandwich Coverage RED Steakhouse and Bar Muse SkyBar and Restaurant Breezes Woodys Seaside Grill Rosas
